Goalkeeping Academy

The Goalkeeping Academy has started up again on Thursday evenings at the floodlit area at Fisherrow Links. Jim McLean has retired from active coaching but will continue as the figurehead of the Academy this year with a new Head Goalkeeping coach to be appointed next year.

Coaches – Fay Logan & Jess Sharp

Junior kids (U8's, U9's & U10's) - 6.45-7.45pm
Juniors (U11's & U12's) - 8.00-9.00pm

Coaches – David Bald & David Gaines

Seniors (U13's-U21's) - 7.00-8.30pm

Groups are mixed open to both boys & girls. Could all Team Leaders ensure their goalkeepers have the opportunity to come along to the Academy.

    COACHING FORMAT WE FOLLOW

   Every coaching session is pre-planned and logged in advance, with each section having their own individual coaching 'manual', for general comments and

the collation of information. We run with five topic, and with the exception of every fifth week when all the sections cover handling, the other four

topics are rotated so that no two groups are doing the same topic on the same evening. We endeavour to encourage the goalkeepers to 'earn' a small

sided game to finish provided the conditioning and technical areas of the session have been completed to a satisfactory standard.

THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR WILL ALWAYS BE THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF EVERY GOALKEEPER, SO WE ENSURE A SAFE
